Monday, October 13 - Mondo Italiano!

This event was SOLD OUT!

6:30 - 8:30pm. Our inaugural Monday night tasting went extremely well, and thanks to everyone that came to enjoy the festivities! The wines were amazing, and we're looking forward to the next one!

The tasting fee of $55 also included light appetizers provided by La VIta e Bella restaurant.

Bellavista Franciacorta DOCG
From Franciacorta in Lombardia comes Italy's very best sparkling wine, made in the traditional Champenoise method, bottle-fermented and aged at least 25 months on the lees. This is not Prosecco, but a very elegant, refined blend of 90% Chardonnay, with 10% Pinot Bianco and Pinot Nero, commanding respect from the Champagne houses of France!

2002 L'Arco Rubeo Rosso, Veronese IGT
This is the wine that is off the beaten path! L'Arco produces classic Valpolicella and Amarone, but this Rubeo is a blend of the classic Valpolicella grapes of Corvina, Rondella, and Molinara, with the untraditional addition of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, with a hint of Croatina grape thrown in for good measure.

2001 Collosorbo Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
One of Italy's most prestigious wines is made from Brunello, which is a local clone of Sangiovese. The wine was originally crafted at the end of the 19th century for exceptional quality, long aging potential, and to accompany wild game, roast meats, and aged cheeses. This region as the very first in Italy to obtain DOCG status.

2003 Sori' Paitin "Vecchie Vigne" Barbaresco DOCG
The Nebbiolo grape finds its most dazzling expression on the south-facing hills of Langhe in Piemonte. Generally more feminine and elegant than Barolo, Barbaresco has a greater suppleness, softer fruit, and a more obvious charm. These wines are aged a minimum of two years in cask, and the term Sori' on the label indicates that the vineyard site is especially distinguished.

1999 Viberti Riserva, Bricco delle Viole, Barolo DOCG
Barolo is unquestionably Italy's greatest wine appellation and its finest wines are the ultimate expression of the Nebbiolo grape. The grapes from this wine come from northeast side of Barolo, whose soil generally produces wines that are more perfumed elegant, softer, rounder, and approachable than their cousins on the southeast half of the appellation.

2001 Michele Castellani "Monte Cristi" Amarone Classico della Valpolicella DOC
Amarone is the most potent form of Valpolicella, where selected Rondella, Molinara, and Corvina grapes are loft-dried to produce a highly-concentrated wine, redolent with notes of dark chocolate, raisin, and fruitcake spice.
